Binghamton University's
chapter of Kappa Delta Pi (KDP), international
education honor society, is currently accepting
applications from students, faculty, and local
teachers. KDP is committed to recognizing excellence
and fostering mutual cooperation, support, and
professional growth for educational professionals.
Binghamton University's chapter, Alpha Gamma
Chi, was chartered a little over a year ago
on December 2, 2006.
As a new chapter,
we are trying to increase our membership and
activity in the area. We would greatly appreciate your
support. Please consider becoming a new member
by completing the application above. Applications
are due in the SOE office (in the KDP mailbox)
by March 5, 2008. The mandatory induction
ceremony will be on March 15th, 2008 in
the
morning.
If you are not currently
a member, please consider becoming part of our
organization - we would be honored to have you!
Thank you for your
support,
KDP Officers
ANNOUNCEMENT
KDP is currently
looking for volunteers for our Literacy Alive!
event to be held this year April 10th (grades
K - 2) and 11th (grades 3 - 5) at Johnson City
Elementary school.
The
event aims to promote literacy so we will be
donating books to the Johnson City Elementary
school that will be distributed to classrooms
and students. We will also be doing read-alouds
in classrooms at Johnson City Elementary.
We
need volunteers who can come to the Johnson City
Elementary school for at least 1 hour during
school hours to do a read-aloud to a classroom
there. Please contact Natalie Berlin
at veggiechk@yahoo.com by
March 28th with which day and times you can volunteer
and/or any questions. We would love to
have members of KDP (members this is a great
way to fulfill your volunteer requirements) as
well as non-members (students and professors!)
who would like to read to a classroom. The
students at Johnson City look forward to hearing
us read!
ANNOUNCEMENT
KDP will be selling Gertrude Hawk
chocolate bars for this semester's fundraiser. We
will earn 50% profit on each bar we sell, but
we do have a minimum to buy... so please consider
helping us by signing up to sell a box (36
bars) or half of a box. (A variety of
types will be made available... see
http://www.gertrudehawkchocolates.com/index.cfm?act=programs_candybar for
details.)
If you are interested in participating, please
e-mail Allison (bennie_747@yahoo.com)
to help her get an idea of how many boxes to
order. If you reply, Allison WILL ORDER
a box in your name. Sell them on campus,
to family and coworkers, etc., to help our chapter
raise money for our Literacy event and our Spring
Induction!
